But then you’re faced with a critical issue that requires another level of versions. Or maybe you want a pre-release version, or a temporary version based on a branch name? To make that work, you need to understand how Maven deals with versions. I wondered about that myself, so I dove into the docs and into the code and figured it all out for you.
