Future Tech 2019: Eduardo Leegwater Simões – Self Sovereign Identity

Identity models on the internet have come a long way since usernames and passwords. In this session I give an overview of how these models have advanced, and what problems they tackled at the time, using them as a springing board to discuss a new model – Self-Sovereign Identity – focusing on privacy and complete user control over how their data is used.

Bio Eduardo Leegwater Simões

Eduardo Leegwater Simões is a software engineer and blockchain enthusiast. Since training as a physicist at Leiden University, he’s become more interested in topics such as number theory, cryptography, and digital identity. Working at Atos, he’s currently involved in a push for more decentralized identity systems, as well as the development of software in the blockchain space.
